16 new luxury Resorts are scheduled to open in the Maldives this year and will create almost 9000 new job opportunities and offer the availability of additional 5000 beds almost. Most of this Resorts were initially planned to open in 2020 however due to Covid-19 pandemic the progress of the constructions and developments of many Resorts stopped and discontinued. However some of existing Resorts used this opportunity and time to renovate their properties and improve their services. Several international brands will be in the market as Melia Hotels, GHM Hotels, Avani Hotels & Resorts, Le Méridien, The Ritz-Carlton, and La Vie Hotels will make its debuts in this year. As of now the most expected resort opening in 2021 is the 3 ultra luxury properties in the Fari Islands : Capella Maldives, The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, and Patina Maldives. Here is the list of 16 Resorts opening this year :
