Spend the day accompanied by your guide. Discover Male City through the eyes of a local, visiting the fish market, local market, President’s Palace and Friday Mosque, as well as discovering a few points off the beaten track! Stop for lunch at one of the many restaurants overlooking the water front before taking the public ferry to Villimale’.  Here join Save the Beach and discover the quieter side of city life by exploring the smaller island of Villimale’, located south west of Male. Wander the quiet streets, learn the names of local trees and learn more about the conservation work being carried out by Save The Beach. Before returning to Male’, sample traditional ‘hedika’ at a local café on the beach. Hedika is traditional sweet and savory snacks served with black tea and taken between 3.00 and 5.00pm. Includes:

The Original Villimale' Eco Walking Tour (14:00 – 18:00)

Join “Save the Beach” and discover the quieter side of city life by exploring the smaller island of Villimale’, located south west of Male’. Our guide will meet you and travel with you by public ferry to Villimale’. Wander the quiet streets, learn the names of local trees and learn more about the conservation work being carried out by “Save The Beach”. Before returning to Male we take time to sample traditional ‘hedika’ at a local café on the beach. Hedika is traditional sweet and savory snacks traditionally served with black tea and taken between 3.00 and 5.00pm. A percentage of the rate is donated to Save the Beach. Includes:

About our tours

Guide Team

  • Our guide team is fully vaccinated. One of our experienced and professionally trained tour guides will accompany you for the duration of each activity. All our guides are Maldivian and hold First Aid and Lifeguard qualifications
  • Our guide team always carries first aid kits and hand sanitizer. To their backpacks, we will add face masks, gloves, and an infrared thermometer.
  • Every member of the team will be trained on the HPA guidelines and procedures that cover identifying symptoms, the handling of guests who display symptoms, and the required reporting process.
  • Our guide team will carry with them at all times, all necessary information and a list of contact numbers and medical facilities.
  • Our team will practice safe distancing at all times.
  • Any member of our team exposed to potential or confirmed cases will go into a 14-day home quarantine until the suspected case is cleared or they are medically cleared for work.

Operational

  • We will take into account Safe Tourism Guidelines when published in relation to island hopping tours and visits to local islands.
  • We will follow all local laws and regulations in relation to public health and safety.

How you can assist us

  • We ask that you travel responsibly.
  • Ensure that you have appropriate travel insurance.
  • We request you to bring your own mask. You’ll be required to wear it on the airplane and potentially other settings based on local guidelines.
  • We ask that if you are feeling under the weather you let us know as soon as possible.
  • We ask you to wash your hands regularly, carry hand sanitizer, and observe social distancing.
  • These actions will form part of our standard operating practice until further notice. They will be reviewed regularly and amended as necessary to ensure we follow all official recommendations.
