Maldives just received 500,597 total tourist arrivals as of 26th March 2023 which is 22.3% more than the same period of last year and the Top 3 Markets for Maldives since 1st January 2023 until now are First is Russia (12.1%) and Second is India (10.5%) and Third is United Kingdom (9.5%).
As of now, there are 1,229 tourist facilities in operation with total of 60,382 beds and the average duration of stay of tourists in the Maldives is 8.0 days.
Ramadan allowances 2023 for Resort Workers :
As the Holy month of Ramadan started in 23rd March 2023, Labour Relation Authority of Maldives LRA just opened the Submission of Complaints regarding Non-Receipt of Ramadan Benefits to All Muslim Staff Local & Residents that are working legally in Maldives.
The Employment Act states that before the first day of Ramadan, every Muslim Employee in Maldives will be paid a minimum of MVR 3,000 as Ramadan allowance (Equivalent of 195 USD), in addition to his Basic Salary + Allowances as per contract + Service Charge.
Also every Muslim Employee should have this Clause mentioned in his employment contract. If the allowance is not received, a complaint should be submitted to the LRA through the complaint submission form in official website or to their email address info@lra.gov.mv
In the past, Labour Relations Authority has observed cases where Employers did not timely distribute the benefits or provided a lower amount to their staff. If such offenses are repeated, the employer may face a penalty ranging from USD324 to USD3,242 or other actions like the cancellation of their government licenses.
